Last week’s question: Many jurisdictions have banned or are looking at banning the usage of hand-held devices while driving. Should they go further and ban hands-free devices as well?
Last week’s poll results were very surprising. 33.3% of you felt that talking on the phone, even on a hands-free device, needs to be banned. However, the rest of you were more skeptical. 16.7% felt that after the government decides to ban hands-free phones, that they should be banning the car stereo as well. Another 16.7% felt that if talking on the phone was distracting, that perhaps they should ban any kind of talking! Hands-free devices would include a GPS. 8.3% felt that if the GPS was banned, then people would have to resort to old-fashioned maps. And looking at maps can be more dangerous. This leaves another 25% of you, who chose “other.” What was the “other”? Do you agree or disagree with this? What would YOU do if you were in charge of drafting up legislation?
