Destination: Water – Toronto Designer Launches Bathing Suit Line

Destineau, Cristin Lazier’s mommy-daughter bathing suit line had its first trunk show at the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club on January 25, 2008.  The line, whose name is a hybrid of “destination” and the French word for water, “eau”,  consists of seven suits for adults, with two of the suits coming in girls’ sizes (2-6).  The event featured a display of samples from the entire line, as well as suits in a variety of different sizes so that guests could try them on.

Cristin, who has a background in advertising, decided to make a change to design a few years ago.  Her love of travelling has led her to name each suit after a vacation destination, with most named after warm places.  Each of the pieces live up to their names.  For example, the Hamptons suit is a grey and white gingham and conservatively cut, while the Rio is very colourful with a string halter top.  Not all suits are two pieces – the Capri and the Goa are both one piece suits.  In addition, all two piece suits can be customized in split sizes, since not everyone wears the same top and bottom sizes.

Destineau suits are locally-made, with only the fabric printed in Los Angeles. Suits will soon be available at Vocado in Toronto.  Check back for more details!
