A Night in Spain…and a Hockey Game

The Canadian Opera Company’s Operanation 6: Habanera was held the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts on Friday, February 28. With Bizet’s Carmen and everything Spanish as its theme, the cocktail reception featured delicious tapas, as well as a Spanish cheese bar and desserts table.  The event drew the professional set from all over the Toronto area.

The event also had great entertainment.  There were dancers from City Dance Corps, a school and dance company on Queen and Spadina, mezzo-soprano Lauren Segal as well as an improv team from The National Theatre of the World.  Though attendees were pretty involved with the improv sessions, many were more interested in the Canada-Slovakia game, which was playing on a big screen television in the same area.  It would actually have been a better idea if the improv was moved elsewhere.  The space was too crowded with hockey fans uninterested in the show.

In addition to goodies and entertainment, the event also had a silent auction, featuring items such as a PVR receiver from Bell, tickets to sporting events and the theatre as well as vacation packages.
