Quince: Great for a Light Lunch or Tastey Dinner

It may have been around for a while, but Quince Restaurant on Yonge, south of Eglinton is a great place to relax for a nice delicious meal.  Just far south enough to be away from the buzz that is Yonge and Eglinton, dining at the restaurant will put you away from the crowd – a good thing if you’re into a quieter experience.  The ambiance is also quite interesting – dark tables and walls and menus on clipboards – it’s something that you might expect further south rather than Yonge and Eglinton.

Steak frites

The experience at Quince is definitely contemporary and, for the most part, healthy.  Portion sizes are also much smaller than at other places, especially those in similar price ranges.  Finally, the lunch menu very separate from its dinner menu – the lunch choices are much lighter.  For example, mains at lunch include salads with a protein and paninnis, while dinner choices are more hearty. In both cases, bread was served with a dish of humuus rather than butter or olive oil.

Salmon with quinoa and watercress

For dinner, highly recommended are the steak frites, which comes with grilled onions, arugula and a sweet chili vinaigrette.  The sauce very much complements the meat and the frites are made just right – not soggy at all.  For lunch, grilled fillet of salmon is a good choice.  The dish, which comes with quinoa, a mint yogurt sauce and watercress, is more of a maincourse salad, making the dish lighter and more “lunch friendly.”

In addition to a regular menu and dining room, Quince is also available for private functions, complete with set menus.  For more information and to make a reservation, please visit its website or call 416-488-2110.
